LONDON EPT RESULTS

Sporting Life 30 Sep -- Well the fat lady has sung and the London leg of the European Poker Tour is done and dusted. Joseph Mouawad of Lebanon beat out 391 other competitors to take the top prize, netting himself a neat £611,520 at the Grosvenor Victoria Casino.

Mouawad, who qualified online with the sponsor, defeated Florian Langmann from Germany heads-up, hitting first a pair of queens, then a third to take down the prestigious title.

The day began with eight players:

Florian Langmann (Germany) £927,000
Joseph Mouawad (Lebanon) £780,000
Marcel Baran (Germany) £583,000
Josh Egan (New Zealand) £477,000
Anthony Lellouche (France) £466,000
Paul Mendes (England) £282,000
Ian Cox (England) £234,000
Fredrik Haugen (Sweden) £190,000
First to be eliminated was Cox who got his short stack in ahead with K7 but caller Langmann with K3 found a three on the board. Cox received £57,075.

Next out was Paul Mendes whose K10 ran into Lellouche’s AK and didn’t improve. He received £77,459.

Lellouche was next to hit the rail when Mouawad called his all-in from behind with J2 and made two pair. He picked up £97,843 for his sixth place finish.

Haugen exited in fifth when he called an all-in from Langmann with AJ. The German’s Q10 improved on the flop and Swede was out picking up £124,342.

New Zealander Egan busted in fourth when he ran KJ in Langmann’s aces. He won £152,880.

Shortly afterwards Baran hit the rail when his 44 clashed with Langmann’s K7 which picked up a king on the flop done. He won £203,840.

Mouawad and Langmann were virtually even in chips as heads-up play commenced but the Lebanese edged ahead and an hour into their final push for the title all the chips went in the middle on a flop of 69Q after Mouawad went all-in over the top of Langmann’s bet and was called. The German showed 89 while the Lebanese showed Q3, hit another queen and walked off with the £611,520 first prize while Langmann had to settle for £346,528.
